Privacy Policy

Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Chyn ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our iPhone email application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). Chyn is designed to help you read, organize, search, summarize, and send email from your Gmail account. By using the Services, you agree to this Policy along with our Terms of Use.
Information Chyn processes
Depending on how you use the Services, Chyn may process the following information. Most mailbox content is processed and cached on your device. We only store Gmail-related information on our servers for features that need server support, such as optional email alerts.
- Account information. Your email address, display name, profile image, Google account identifiers, and sign-in status. This is used for authentication, account display, and optional notification setup.
- Gmail data processed in the app. If you connect Gmail, the Chyn app accesses Gmail messages, threads, labels, attachments, sender and recipient headers, subject lines, timestamps, read and unread state, starred state, unsubscribe headers, drafts or outgoing message content, and other mailbox data needed to display your inbox and perform actions you request. This mailbox content is primarily stored locally on your device as app data and cache.
- Local app data stored on your device. Chyn stores mailbox records, cached message bodies, attachments you open, generated summaries, account preferences, and app settings on your device so the app can work quickly and reliably.
- Server-side notification data. If you enable email alerts, our notification infrastructure stores the OAuth tokens, Gmail watch state, device push tokens, notification preferences, and minimal Gmail identifiers needed to maintain Gmail push notifications and route you to the right conversation. For notification delivery, sender names and subject lines may pass through Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service so they can appear on your device.
- Device and diagnostic information. Such as app version, device type, operating system, crash logs, performance logs, and other technical data used to keep the Services reliable and secure.
- Support communications. Information you send when you email us or otherwise request help.
Google user data and Gmail scopes
Chyn requests Google permissions only to provide the email features available in the app. Depending on the feature, these permissions may allow Chyn to read, display, search, sync, organize, label, archive, move to trash, unsubscribe from, compose, and send Gmail messages on your behalf, and to manage basic Gmail settings needed for features such as smart labels and notification watches.
We do not use Gmail data for advertising. We do not sell Gmail data. We do not allow humans to read your Gmail content unless you ask us for support, you give us explicit permission, it is necessary for security or abuse investigation, or we are required to do so by law. We do not use Gmail data to develop, train, or improve generalized AI or machine learning models.
Chyn's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
On-device AI processing
Chyn may generate short summaries or draft assistance for messages you choose to view or reply to. When supported by your operating system, this AI processing is designed to happen on your device using Apple Foundation Models. Chyn does not use Gmail content to train AI models, does not sell Gmail content to third parties, does not build advertising profiles from Gmail data, and does not use Gmail data for advertising.
Gmail data is used only to provide core email functionality, such as displaying your inbox, organizing conversations, helping you compose replies, syncing message state, and delivering optional notifications you enable.
No cloud email storage service
Chyn does not operate a cloud email storage service. Your emails remain in your Gmail account, and mailbox content is primarily cached locally on your device to provide app functionality. If you enable optional email alerts, Chyn stores encrypted OAuth tokens, Gmail watch state, device push tokens, notification preferences, and minimal Gmail identifiers in Firebase or Google Cloud only to maintain Gmail watch subscriptions, route notifications, and deliver alerts.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Authenticate you and connect your Gmail account.
- Display, search, group, summarize, and organize your inbox.
- Sync message state with Gmail, including read state, labels, archive, spam, and trash actions.
- Compose, reply to, forward, and send email when you choose to do so.
- Create and manage Gmail labels or filters when you enable those features.
- Send optional push notifications about new email according to your notification settings.
- Provide support, troubleshoot issues, maintain security, and prevent abuse.
- Communicate with you about updates, early access, or support.
- Comply with law and respond to lawful requests.
AI and summaries
We do not send Gmail message bodies to Chyn servers to train AI models, and we do not use Gmail data to train generalized AI or machine learning models. Email summaries and draft assistance are provided to help you use the email features you choose in Chyn.
Storage and security
Chyn stores most mailbox content and cached message data on your device, not on Chyn servers. Authentication tokens used by the iOS app are stored using platform security features such as the iOS Keychain. If you enable server-assisted email alerts, encrypted OAuth tokens and minimal Gmail data needed for notifications are stored in Google Firebase or Google Cloud services so Chyn can maintain Gmail watch subscriptions and deliver push notifications.
We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including access controls, encrypted transport, and platform-provided secure storage where available. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and enforce our agreements. Local mailbox caches remain on your device until you remove the account, delete the app, clear the relevant data, or the app replaces or trims cached data during normal operation. Server-side notification records and tokens are retained while email alerts are enabled or as otherwise needed to operate and secure the Services.
Access, deletion, and revocation
You can disconnect your Google account or sign out in the app. You can also revoke Chyn's Google access from your Google Account permissions page at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access may stop Chyn from syncing, sending, organizing, or notifying you about Gmail messages.
You may request deletion of personal information we control by contacting us at the email below. Some information may remain where retention is required by law, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or backup processes. Deleting Chyn does not delete messages from Gmail unless you separately perform a Gmail deletion action in the app or in Gmail.
When you disable Email Alerts or delete your Chyn account in the app, Chyn removes the server-side Gmail notification data associated with that account, including stored OAuth tokens, Gmail watch metadata, Gmail notification receipts, and related notification routing records.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us at the email below. You may also be able to control some data through your device or connected email provider settings.
Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
If you use the Services from outside the country where we operate, your information may be processed in that country or other locations where we or our providers operate, which may have different data protection rules.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the revised Policy with an updated "Last updated" date. Where appropriate, we will provide additional notice.
